However, services like 23andMe can detect a NA ancestor within 5 generations (4th great grandparent) are are dispelling family rumors of *supposed* Native ancestry.  The family rumor that great grandma was a Cherokee Indian and you see 100% European, great granny was most like admixed or non-Indian.</description>
